Our Story…

In 2000 our loving mother Willie Mae, affectionately known as “Sista” fought a good fight against Cancer of the Kidneys. Mothers’ cancer had metastasized over her Liver and Wind pipe. She had stage 4 Cancer; her doctors recommended she receive experimental Chemotherapy. After 2 years of treatments Mother received her wings, the call to Gods peace.

Then in 2004 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, this news was unexpected and devastating. I felt confused and did not know what to do or were to turn for resources or information.

My journey consisted of two surgeries, several weeks of treatments, physical and emotional wear, and tear on my entire being. I finally found comfort praying to God and telling him” Once I gain my strength back, I will support and advocate for families experiencing Cancer, increase equitable access to healthcare resources in underserved communities, churches, recreation centers and workplaces.”

We collaborate with several research organizations and local hospitals to provide current data on the latest Cancer research information. At our Community Health Fairs, we provide Health screenings, Health Educational Programs, Resources for healthy starts and Medical Insurance Information.

During the holidays we supply Holiday Food Baskets for Seniors to have a nutritional meal. We are striving to support as many Cancer families as possible with your support we can.

Founders Statement

As a Cancer Survivor and Advocate it was important to me to provide a means of support and encouragement for patients and their families. The word Cancer is just devastating to hear and experience. No one’s journey is the same, however we can certainly provide Care, Compassion and Concern for others. Everyone needs comfort, someone to be an advocate for such a time as this… and empowered community of experienced survivors, caretakers, and family members to be a traveler in your journey.

Once I survived Cancer, I dedicated my life to supporting, advocating for more information, education, support groups, clinical trials, and resources for all regions. Sista’s Daughters Inc. was born the last of my own treatments in honor of our mother Willie Mae Mason affectionately known as “Sista.” I had a conversation with God and thanked him for bringing through this tribulation. Now it’s my turn to provide a testimony, be a support for all, and encourage patients.
